Red Carpet: Emmy Awards 2013

Yesterday (September 22nd) the 2013 Emmy Awards took place in Los Angeles. Here are my thoughts on the dresses.

1. Feminine/Girly dresses
The first thing that I noticed was that there were a lot of feminine/girly dresses. Lena Headey (Game of Thrones) wore a sheer black dress by Alessandra Rich. Kaley Cuoco wore a burgundy Vera Wang-dress. Julianne Hough also wore a sheer dress, her's was by Jenny Packham. I also spotted lace on the red carpet. Emily Deschanel (Bones) looked pretty in a grey gown by Houghton. Kerry Washington (Scandal) and Claire Danes both wore an embellished dress. Claire's gown was by Armani Prive.

2. Pink dresses
Another thing that I noticed was pink ... a lot of pink! I have to say, I found that a bit odd, since pink isn't a 'fall color'. Rose Byrne looked pretty in a baby pink top and skirt by Calvin Klein. Sarah Poulsen (American Horror Story) wore a bright pink Carolina Herrera-gown. Laura Dern wore a pink embellished Naeem Khan-dress. Julie Bowen wore a light pink dress by Zac Posen. January Jones wore a light pink Givenchy-dress. Ariel Winter looked cute in a pink dress by Loranda Sarbu.

3. Purple dresses
Purple was a color that was seen a lot on the red carpet too. Melissa Rauch (Big Bang Theory) and Alyson Hannigan both wore purple strapless dresses. Alyson's gown is by Marchesa. Mindy Kaling looked nice in a dark purple dress by Edition by Georges Chakra, and Linda Cardellini wore an amazing ruffled dress by Donna Karan.

4. Blue dresses
Another color that was a bit unexpected, was blue. Tina Fey looked pretty in a simpel royal blue dress by Narciso Rodriguez. Allison Williams wore an amazing blue Ralph Lauren-dress. Zooey Deschanel (New Girl) wore a light blue dress by J. Mendel, and Giuliana Rancic in a blue Mikael D-dress. Maria Menounos (Extra) wore a navy dress by Zac Posen, and Edie Falco wore a blue dress by Escada.

5. White dresses
Of course there were white dresses too. Kate Mara wore a white J. Mendel-dress. Malin Akerman looked good in a white dress. Taylor Schilling wore a white dress by Thakoon, and Elisabeth Moss looked cute in a black and white dress by Andrew Gn. Also wearing a black and white dress was Anna Gunn (Breaking Bad). Her's was by Romona Keveza.

6. Big dresses
Big dresses were also seen a lot. Carrie Underwood wore a huge blue dress by Randi Rahn during her performance, and she wore a purple dress by Romona Keveza on the red carpet. Vera Farmiga wore a big black dress by Theyskens' Theory, and Betsey Brandt wore a big faded dress.

Who do I think was the 'best dressed'? I'm not really sure, because none of the dresses stood out to me. What I can say, is that I liked the ruffles on the Donna Karan-dress (worn by Linda Cardellini) and I loved the color of the blue Ralph Lauren-dress (worn by Allison Williams).
